I have had two previous startup efforts, both of which did not end up working out. However, the ideas and the people I met through these efforts eventually contributed towards Emplity, my third startup venture - and the first one that actually took off.
We build AI-driven applications for mental health professionals in-training, such as AI Roleplay for practising Cognitive-behavioral Therapy (CBT) formulation through audio / video chats, and AI review of case studies and transcripts - born out of my own pain points when I was a clinical psychology student. We are currently undergoing trials with institutes of higher learning and universities.
As the co-founder of the startup, I have built the initial prototypes with a fellow former co-founder; we eventually got a development team together, with me as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the project manager for technical development. Alongside project management, I also developed the initial AI pipeline for avatar simulation and conversation evaluations according to university clinical psychology course training rubrics and guidelines. I have since assumed the position of Chief Research Officer (CRO) given my focus on research efforts for AI pipeline improvements; I now spearhead business strategies and product design in line with the needs of mental health professionals in-training.
